DANIEL AND SCHOOLMATES

This picture was on the school website, the whole school when Daniel was in Year One last year. When he started Year 2, the 'family' grew larger and that means the school has been doing a great  work. In this picture, Daniel was standing in the third front row, second from the left.

I took this from the school newsletter. Daniel was smiling with his Shark!

Both of these were the mandarin homework for Year 2. At first I have to pretend to know Mandarin as well..haha..  I have to download Mandarin dictionary on top of my a few Korean online dictionaries on my phone for the sake of helping Daniel's homework. Now, he is getting better at it and can work on his own. phewww ....

Screenshot from my phone as I was reading the school newsletter online. I spotted Daniel in his class. Learning maths I guess..

Daniel in his swimming class. Swimming lesson in this school was his first time swimming ever so he's getting on it.

Spotted him again!

This was when he had his Physical Education lesson at the school field (it was their rooftop, but really super in terms of safety, creative is a must in the city)

Happy classmates!

Spotted Daniel again in the newsletter with his only Malaysian's classmate

Their visit to Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul. Daniel visited here first with his classmate and then join my first visit here with cousins a few weeks later. He was a good tour guide to us as he was learning about this earlier. Will talk about it in another entry with more pic of this place.

EGGLESS CHOC CAKE

Choc cake, eggless version best sangat tak muak.time strawberry murah kita kasi taruk. If I make bread every week, I make cakes two or three times a month!! So, expect for more cakes entries! Yg penting, the kids are so happy enjoying the homemade cakes!!

CLOTH RECYCLE BOX

When I first saw this box, I was wondering why I can see this box at different places? What box is this?
Well, this one I took the picture in my neighbourhood. It is for clothes recycling purpose. I saw some people put clothes, comforter (can fit, ok!) even pillows. I also saw some other people were digging into to see what they can get from it. This box is actually locked. I am sure there will be someone who is responsible for this which I believe this is one of the programmes by the government.
So now, I knew already a place to put our spring cleaning stuffs. ;)

SEWING ADDICT

I have been missing sewing so much. These few days I started to do sewing and will try to sew as much as I could before we leave for Hari Raya in Malaysia. Of course I need to thinkof baju raya too as we will be back a week before raya, not much time for baju raya hunting. We will be busy catching up with family and do some other preparation. Anyway, this is a "patchwork" fabric that I am currently working on. I got it from dongdaemun market. My sewing journey can be found in my sewing blog here at Tinicraft

NASI DAGANG TERENGGANU

I made Nasi Dagang Terengganu 3 times already tapi asik lupa nak amik gambar. Ni ada jumpa gambar gulai as far as I could remember I wanted to show to my sister I managed to make it pecah minyak, finally. The last time I made was last November. Now, no more beras pulut to be mixed with the beras siam, so no more nasi dagang. Plus, I could not find anymore 'ikan aye'. It is so hard to find such ikan which I believe it is called tuna here.  (belasah je..pepandai teka). Hopefully I can bring some beras pulut when I go back this Ramadhan. uhukk uhukk... :(

I was there somewhere last year with Hanaa to buy brooches for a good friend in Malaysia. It was about RM2K plus spent for these as she wanted to sell all of them.I was drooling at the brooches haha.berpinar mato den hehe.. Sorry I did not take the pictures of other things in Namdaemun. Busy with this blink-blink.haha. Hanaa was good enough as she was sleeping throughout my precious time there!

DANIEL AND DAMIA BIRTHDAY CAKES

Daniel requested for a Larva cake for his birthday last year, 13/10/2014. And Damia requested for a butterfly cake. With me, never joined any cake deco class, I tried to do my best. Sipi-sipi boleh la kan.hehe. As long as the kids were having fun, I was satisfied enough with the outcome.

Kami sekeluarga dan anak-anak Abg Farid & KakZah (3 out of 5). Other than these two cakes, I cooked agar2 koktel, baked chicken, tomyam, telur dadar and Kak Zah cooked if I could recall cekodok.

HOMEMADE BREAD FOR MINUM PETANG, again.

I make bread once a week. It will be only "roti paung" for the family breakfast etc. My kids love to eat with Nutella and my husband loves to "bawak bekal" for his morning coffee at the office. Sometimes, I love to take some dough to make some varieties like outing cheese, sesame seed, raisins or tuna, sardine etc. But this time I chose to make roti manis by putting some sugar on top and the sesame seeds on top has raisin inside. This would be my "minum petang" before the kids come back from school. Again, I have "kopi hang tuah" hehe..

SCHOOL CHILDREN DAY & PARENTS DAY CARD

When Daniel first showed to me this card that time, I was speechless. Daniel was in Year One last year. That time I only knew a little Hangeul and did not know the writing. After going thru online Korean English Dictionary, I got it.

"Omma, Appa, Saranghaiyo" - Mama, Papa, I love you. Melted ok.haha

These pictures were taken at his school during the Children's Day Celebration. He was dancing with his classmates ok! Fengsannn mak..haha

Some other activities during that day. Parents were invited but only me and his sisters could make it. Papa, as usual he was busy working.

HAPPY CHILDREN'S DAY!

HOMEMADE TELUR MASIN AND NASI KERABU

Nak nangis ok masadapat buat telur masin kt bumi Seoul ni. Teringat kenangan mencari telur itik masa tu. yang ada telur ayam je. cakap duck pun depa taktahu. tunjuk gambar baru la nak faham.hehe.siap buat bunyi itik lg.haha lawak sungguh. tah2 itik korea bunyi lain kan..aigooooo..haha..last skali jumpa kat kedai dekat area rumah ni je kebetulan time tu ada stok kot.hehe.

Memamg tahu ada telur itik sbb pernah ternampak kat Dongdaemun orang jual yang da masak kulit putih. Anyway, lepas google cara nakbuat, terus buat. Nasib baik garam kasar ada. Dua tiga biji pertama mcm takjadi, telur tak jadi masin. setelah beberapa hari tunggu baru la terhasilnya telur masin. Nikmatnya rasa, telur masin kegemaran sepanjang zaman. Hubby senyum meleret sbb dulu kat bangi dia suka beli stok telur masin ni.

ROLLERBLADING AT BANPO BRIDGE PARK, SEOUL

We went to Banpo Bridge for rollerblading last summer in somewhere in June 2014. All of us including my husband have our own rollerblade shoes. Both Damia and Daniel were good at this after a few practice. I needed more practice, as I used to play this 10 years ago in Arizona, USA. Plus, age factor and the difference between a single student and a mom of three, is HUGE. My energy was not that much as I was a student. But as long as all of us were having fun, we did not mind to repeat this again and again. We also went there at night with some other Malaysian friends but I just could not find the photos with them. Hopefully we can repeat this again this spring and summer.

HANAA AND HER PLAYMATE, NOORA

Hanaa and her outing buddy, Noora a mix Malaysian+Finnish girl. Me and Kaklanee (Noora's Mom) always go out together spend our free time. She is the one who drives us to many places. We normally go Gwanjang market for cotton hunting, to Emart for groceries shopping and having lunch at the food court eating grilled fish or we go to Seoul Express Bus Terminal Underground Shopping, the largest underground shopping centre. We love to eat Galchi Jorim, spicy beltfish. I took a few pictures of them but I just only have this one as my phone was corrupted a while ago.

Noora is a few months younger than Hanaa but she is bigger. Noora can get along very fast but Hanaa is a very late warmer. But we enjoyed seeing them playing together eventhough they rarely be the best playmate to each other. I love you both!

This picture was their second 'meeting' early last year. I bought a pair of these hairclips for both..aww so cute..

HOMEMADE KIMCHI

Homemade kimchi is what I wanted to make since we arrived here. I was asking a former student here where to buy kimchi and she was unsure about it since she did not really like kimchi. I asked Kak Lanee, my neighbor, she said I can get it from Emart. We both bought from Emart the Mat Kimchi and after sometimes we both agreed that sometimes that store bought kimchi does not really taste fresh. So, after some googling, a found a very simple but interesting recipe.

After the cutting, salting and mixing, we have to fill in this airtight container and have to wait until half or a day before it is completely fermented. After tried the kimchi, it taste so fresh and so authentic kimchi that I was looking for!! I am so excited..it taste the same as I tried in one of the favourite restaurant in Dongdaemun and my husband agreed! Alhamdulillah, I can eat kimchi everyday, without spending so much money buying from the store and the most important thing is, my husband can eat it because it is so fresh.

MY EVERYTHING

This picture was taken sometimes in summer last year (2014) I guess, I can tell from the clothes that we were wearing. At this time, we had a visitor from Malaysia so she was the one who captured this photo. It was hard to make everyone smile or gave the best pose especially Daniel. Hanaa was not in a good mood this time otherwise she would give a melted pose.hehe. Damia on the other hand is always ever ready for a photo session. I love this natural picture, no make up, no formal clothes, no edit etc.

SIMPLE NASI KERABU in SEOUL

SUMMER SCHOOL CONCERT

This was last summer event June 2014. Daniel was having his school concert that day. But earlier they had to practice throughout the week for the concert. This is Mrs Freeman, his music teacher.

The concert was held in Bundang, about 45 minutes driving as the traffic was quite bad.
Daniel was so happy that the whole family was there.

This was Daniel with his best buddy at school, Alex a cheerful boy.

Me and Alex's mom

Daniel with his sport teacher

With his class teacher, Mrs Walter

ROTI PINTAL

It is cold outside, and homemade bread is not a bad idea with "air kopi cap hang tuah" hehe. I still have some left. My friend from Malaysia, Kak Kuna also gave me "kopi Kedah", I will definitely try it.

I saw a video that had been circulated in fb before house this group of ladies were learning to make bread and this is one of the pattern that they made. haha belasah saje...I have no basic at all at making bread, just started in my Seoulkitchen here in Seoul. Alhamdulillah for the effort and hikmah of being abroad.
