CHILDREN MUSEUM

I really thanked to those who always update sharing their stories in their website, blog, etc. Coz I am sure that I am not the only one who love to google to get info, i mean direct info and experience as a bonus, more pictures could have make it a complete.

If the weather is cold, we always choose indoor playground or indoor activity. This is one of them. We visited a Children Museum in Seoul, I guess they have a few this type of so called museum. But this one is  more on technology thingy and developing the children brain and teachimg some moral values, etc, for example driving a spaceship, be a fashion show model throughout the world, being a blind by using a stick, being a handicapped person on the wheelchair etc.

The kids were enjoying it, if I could recall it was just krw4,000 entrance fee per person and baby is free. We would love to consider coming here again next winter..in shaa Allah..

TURKISH ICE CREAM IN ITAEWON

If you come to Itaewon, you will find a few small kiosks selling Turkish Ice cream. Took this picture last winter around jan-feb, 2 hours later there was snow falling down white from the sky, SubhanaAllah. Opps, for any season if you were here, don't forget to try this ok, and watch for their tricks but do not give up  for the ice cream.

NASI AYAM PENYET

Today I really miss nasi ayam penyet somehow. This picture was taken when I made this nasi when we first arrived here about two months. I cannot make it today coz still not well (coughing, flu and fever) so try to avoid spicy food (well this sambal should be hot and spicy, baru best).

In Malaysia I went to two restaurants having nasi ayam penyet and one of it was my regular visit after then. Satu lagi tu sangat x best especially the soup was like putting ajinomoto in a water only  which failed to impress us and my 6 yrs old son in fact was asking me; "mama, sup ape ni?".

Even a simple nasi ayam penyet, every serving has to be completely cooked with love, not 'ala kadar' to have a perfect meal.

p/s: among all i love the sambal, the longest time cooked but worth.

KIMCHI FRIED RICE

By the time I  was quite bored with our typical nasi goreng here in Seoul, I tried to google some other country nasigoreng (dont be surprised when you see 'nasigoreng' that's how they spell, in Korean restaurant. They have been grown up to have our menu name in their menu list.haha.. We ordered once and it was nasigoreng seafood. It taste so sweet and sticky (of course because they used their sticky rice, can you imagine?) Since then we never ate that anymore.

Back to my kimchi fried rice story. I tried using Thai rice and and some letfover kimchi in the fridge. It tasted really delicious and has its own identity and a bit different with out normal nasi goreng. My husband like it and looking forward for more! Alhamdulillah, takdela boring sangat kan..hehe..

BUANG SAMPAH BERBAYAR

When we first arrive in Korea, this had given me headache. Well, a little bit. We got used to have only one trash bin at the sink with whatever plastic bag and two boxes for plastic bottles and can recycle activities back home. But here, we MUST use this plastics bags for the trash.Yellow is for food waste and white for general waste. We still carry our recycle habit but have to extend to paper and whatever plastics waste, not only plastic bottles.

Oh ya, why did I say we pay for the trash disposal? Well, not directly pay but we have to buy these two plastics from local stores, I repeat, LOCAL stores because different district/town/whatever their classification is, has different plastics colors. If we convert to RM, this 3 liter yellow bag w ill cost around KRW360, about RM1..and more for the white bag.

Well, anyway, we got used to it now and hopefully we will still follow this rule when we back in Malaysia later, in shaa Allah..

DANIEL'S FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

I know that he has been to school quite sometimes already, starting end of January this year and his mom can only post about this now..haha..hopefully this blog will still exist so that Daniel can read when he grew up. This is a new school around the neighbourhood, a British School. He was so excited to go to school since the very first day and up until today. If he is quite reluctant to wake up in the morning, I would just say, Daniel lemme call your school saying that you are not going to school today. Before finishing my sentence he would just get up and walk to the bathroom, fun isn't it? Allahu Akbar, I am gonna miss this moment. He even requested to go to school during weekends and spring break. What does that mean? School is fun! Here, he has no homework but honestly his Mom has a lot of task piling up just for his other lesson; Quran of course, Jawi both writing and reading..kalau kat mesia cikgu dapat banyak pahala woo mostly anak kenal dan tulis jawi from school. I have started about kisah Nabi and completed a book through bedtime story slots and I have yet to teach him Arabic, Seerah, Aqidah etc..challenging huh?Indeed..talking about languages, he's now learning English, Korean and Mandarin in school and his Mom wants him to learn Arabic? yup, kesian but I have to, who else would cover that? Well, Arabic was my minor in Arizona other than Major in Economics, so why not? (fuuh, ingat lg ke yang ooii)..wish me luck!

HOMEMADE SANDWICH BREAD AND THE PERFECT KNIFE FOR SLICING

This is what I make every week, again and again. apparently this week not yet sbb bnyk masak cake. Anyway, I was wondering before how could i cut this sandwich bread nicely without having them penyek. Until I posted the question on FB and some friends had given some good tips. Rupanya for homemade ni we do not have to buy slicer bagai, just enough using this special type of knife. Do not know how to call this knife. Bukan gergaji jugak tapi gerigi ek? I have this knife as a gift (to be exact a set of knife with the stand) when we bought our washing machine when we got married. Tp never used coz I dont see the need, apalah pisau ni tak tajam, lekat2 nak potong. After 7 years I finally know how and when to use. Alhamdulillah syukur sangat, nasib baik bawa dari Malaysia haritu, so i dont have to waste money buying a new one here. Anak2 suka roti ni sbb homemade yet lembut and wangi..hehe, they love to eat with strawberry cheese and nutela. (well, I do too ;p)

SOME TIPS OF PUTTING THE KIDS TO SLEEP IN THEIR OWN ROOM

This bed is so perfect for Tasnim, my second girl. I knew that I was always dreaming of this kind of bed for my girls when we were in Malaysia but it was not just yet to do so. I was so not really hard trying to separate them as they were still small I think. We are all sleep together, 5 of us in our master bedroom which I think it is normal for some other families too.

As soon as I knew that we were coming here, I told Fahmi and Tasnim to sleep in their own bedroom when we are in Korea as that is the rule for kids in Korea, haha cruel mom huh? Anyway, it is not a bad thing though so I just proceed. When we moved to our house here, on the very first day I set up their bed as they love  and they started to sleep in their own room.. And please please try to accompany them until the fall asleep for at least for a few nights. I did that for Fahmi, 6++ yrs old and did some bedtime story telling (cerita Nabi) with the lights on some more but Tasnim could surprisingly slept on her own with the lights off eventhough it was just her first day and she was just 4++ years old. But Iswitch on the lights at the family hall and keep their doors opened as they may awake in the middle of the night. Until today I will wake up 2 times for their bathroom time and some times a few more times just to look and see how are they doing, you know put their comforter back on ke, now still cold eventhough we have a minimum heater on but still it is cold at night.

Another tips, when waking up in the morning hugs and kiss them as you really miss them so much when the are sleeping, yup I really do miss them all even while the are sleeping..and try to talk to the about their experience, how do they feel, what were their dreams etc. And we still do that routine until now. It has a huge impact as we can feel that they are looking forward for another night and another and another and so on. Alhamdulillah.

p/s: Hanaa my little daughter in this picture was just pretending to sleep here..haha, she has her own bed in our master bedroom.

HOMEMADE SAUSAGE PIZZA

This is not a cooking blog but I would love to share what I have cooked for the kids and what they like the most here. I know that I found a halal pizza small restaurant here but it is all the way up to itaewon area, where we used to live for two months when first arrived here. So I have no option but to make the pizza. Pizza has been a weekly regular food for the kids when I was working before in Malaysia. You know, coming home nearly magrib or after, I always had to make up something with the kids by ordering their favourite food. And here, after I googled and tried a few recipe, I found one that I would definitely hold it until forever..yup, finally.Alhamdulillah. And you know what, eventhough it was not perfect but it was so perfect for me to have this satisfaction feeling when looking at them eating and thanking me for what I have cooked. Kids, I will try to make up every single moment that I have missed when I was working before.

VISIT TO KOREA WAR MUSEUM

I think I never posted about this visit before. Yup, we visited Korea War Museum nearby and the kids were excited not because of the army thingy but about the snow! Well, they have had experiencing the snow quite a few times already since we arrived here but I never let them to play with it. But here, seems they were quite boring other than the giant aeroplanes, I let them played with the snow. Enjoy the pictures!
